Husted: New educational iBook is considered ‘new and notable’

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced that over 2,300 people have downloaded the new iBook, “Ohio: Pathway to the Presidency,” since its launch in August, and it’s now considered a “New and Notable” publication in the education section of Apple’s iBook Store.
“Ohio is the place where the hopes of presidential candidates rise and fall and this iBook is an innovative way for students to learn about their state’s importance in national politics,” Secretary Husted said.
The iBook, available through the Apple Store at no cost, features five chapters including detailed biographical information on the eight former U.S. Presidents to have called Ohio home and information on why Ohio is so important in the race to the White House.

Since the iBook was launched last month, Secretary Husted has certified the form of the 2016 Presidential Election Ballot. That information has now been added to the publication so students can learn about the 2016 election specifically, while reading about Ohio’s prominence and history. A full list of the presidential candidates who will be on the November ballot including their personal and professional background information is available for viewing through the iBook.
“Ohio: Pathway to the Presidency” was authored at no cost to the taxpayer through a partnership between Secretary of State’s Office and Jason LaMar of Columbus State Community College. LaMar is also an Apple Distinguished Educator and designed the iBook. The Ohio History Connection offered valuable historical documents and assistance in gathering information for the publication.
