Highland County Humane Society
On Saturday, Dec. 17, the Highland County Humane Society will host an event at Tractor Supply Company in Hillsboro from 2-6 p.m.
Amber Pulse of Impulse Photography will take photos of guests with their pets and Santa Claus. A 4x6 photo costs $5, with the funds raised from the photos benefiting the Highland County Humane Society.
Each year, the Highland County Humane Society opens its doors to abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted animals in the hope that we may be able to rehabilitate them and find loving homes.
Trust of a human seems to be the hardest for them to overcome, even for puppies. With love and patience, we are able to help most of them overcome this. Those that don’t will be with us forever.
Many have been left to starve at the end of a chain when their family with no conscience just simply left them. Inside an abandoned building with no windows, locked inside with absolutely nothing, but perhaps with his weakened bark, a thought that “someone will rescue me from this tomb I have been left to die in.”
Many dogs are beaten and broken with the saddest eyes you may ever have to look into. We don’t try to understand such cruelty. There is no understanding this behavior.
At the Highland County Humane Society, each and every animal is our family and treated as such, with a warm, comfortable environment, never without food or water, up-to-date on all vaccines and any medical help they may need, and most importantly, love and kindness.
Through all of the sadness that we ourselves feel, it’s worth it to see a tail finally wag and a sparkle in their eye, To date in 2011, we have re-homed 467 wonderful pets.
We love hearing from our adoptive families of what a difference they have made in their lives. It makes it all worth it. Help us to continue our mission of care. We are their voice, their only voice.
Won’t you please remember them during the holidays, the time of giving? Remember, your donation is tax-deductible. We are their second chance![[In-content Ad]]
