HPD investigates Sunday morning assault, meth lab allegations

The Hillsboro Police Department is investigating an alleged assault and drug-related activity, stemming from a Sunday morning incident.
At approximately 2:48 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, the HPD received a report of an alleged assault at the 1,000 block of North West Street.
Timothy E. Shafer, 35, of Hillsboro was alleged to have assaulted a female subject, according to the HPD.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was a "working, 'one-pot method' methamphetamine lab in the garage of the residence and that the suspect had sold meth to another subject."
Hillsboro Fire and Rescue was placed on standby and the Highland County Sheriff's Office was contacted for assistance. A certified cleanup company was contacted to remove the meth lab.
Shafer was charged with one count of assault, one count of manufacturing methamphetamine and one count of trafficking in methamphetamine.[[In-content Ad]]
