Hillsboro woman sentenced to community control in meth trafficking case
A Hillsboro woman indicted in connection with a Highland County Task Force investigation last year has been sentenced to community control.
As previously reported, Alexis Ruffing, 35, was indicted in November and charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine and two counts of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, all third-degree felonies. She was one of five individuals arrested Nov. 6 in a Task Force roundup, as all five suspects were arrested on charges related to meth possession and/or trafficking.
According to court records, Ruffing pleaded guilty to one of the aggravated trafficking charges, with the other three counts dismissed. For that charge, the indictment alleged that on or about Aug. 11, 2023, Ruffing “knowingly sold or offered to sell” meth in an amount equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount.
During a sentencing hearing Feb. 5, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss accepted counsel’s recommended sentence of three years of community control for Ruffing. Coss additionally ordered Ruffing to successfully complete substance use disorder treatment and aftercare and to pay $110 in restitution to the Task Force.
