Hillsboro Police Report

On Feb. 8 at approximately 3 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of theft at the Highland County YMCA. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that $55 in cash had been stolen from a wallet that was left in an unlocked locker. A report was taken, and the incident remains under investigation. On Feb. 9 at approximately 5 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of theft. The victim stated she gave a female a ride to the Methodist Church in Hillsboro from an address on state Route 134. During the drive, the suspect distracted the driver several times. After the suspect was dropped off at the church, the driver found that her cell phone and purse were missing. A report was taken, and the investigation is pending.
At approximately 5:38 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of theft from Walmart on Harry Sauner Road. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that 36-year-old Thomas A. Cook of West Union and 21-year-old Roger L. Cook of Hamersville entered the store and concealed numerous items on themselves totaling $160.35 and left the store. Both subjects were apprehended and charged with theft. Thomas A. Cook and Roger L. Cook were transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
On Feb. 8 at approximately 10:26 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of an accident in the 300 block of North High St. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Dale Kelley of Hillsboro was operating a 2002 Kia Sportage when he backed from a parking space at the post office, striking a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Kayla A. Hanneman of Riverside, Ohio, causing damage. No injuries were reported. A report was taken.
