Hillsboro Police Report

On Feb. 4 at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of breaking and entering in the 200 block of East Walnut Street. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that a person(s) had pulled a window screen out and attempted to pry the window of a rental property open, causing damage. Entry was not made. While on scene, the officer was advised that at an earlier date, the back door had been kicked in, and power tools, along with keys to other rental properties, were taken. A report was taken, and the incident remains under investigation.
On Feb. 5 at approximately 2:48 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a fight at the Ole Depot and Carryout in the 400 block of North West Street involving knives. Upon the officers' arrival, they spoke with both witnesses and the suspects. It was found that 20-year-old Jesse J. Morgan of Fairborn and 27-year-old Anthony L. Morgan of Kettering were involved in an altercation with several people inside the establishment. Once the altercation moved outside, both Jesse and Anthony Morgan began threatening people with knives. The owner of the establishment advised both suspects to leave, and they refused. Anthony L. Morgan then attempted to stab the owner of the establishment with a knife, and the owner was forced to defend himself. Both suspects then backed off until police officers arrived. Jesse J. Morgan and Anthony L. Morgan were both arrested for trespassing and aggravated menacing and transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
At approximately 12:50 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of theft in the 400 block of East Main Street. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that a person(s) had entered the victim's vehicle overnight and took items from the vehicle. A report was taken, and the incident remains under investigation.
At approximately 1:59 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of an accident in front of 1482 North High St. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Shirley A. Gilliam of Hillsboro was northbound in a 2000 Chrysler when she went off the right side of the roadway, striking a mailbox and telephone utility box. No injuries were reported. A report was taken, and Gilliam was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
On Feb. 6 at approximately 7:21 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a vehicle striking a deer on Meadow Lane near Westover Drive. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Robert G. Ross of Hillsboro had exited his driveway and was traveling on Meadow Lane in a 2011 Toyota when he struck a deer, causing light damage to his vehicle. No injuries were reported, and a report was taken.
