On Feb. 2, the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of copper wire and parts being stolen from an A/C unit to a rental property in the 100 block of South Elm St. sometime within the last year. A report was taken and the incident remands under investigation.
The Hillsboro Police Department received a report of several personal checks stolen and forged without permission. A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.
The Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a handicap placard being stolen from a vehicle while it was parked at Highland District Hospital. A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.
The Hillsboro Police Department received a call of a shoplifter at Wal-Mart being argumentative and attempting to flee the scene. When officers arrived, they found a female arguing with a Wal-Mart employee and attempting to get in her vehicle and leave.
The female was observed by a loss prevention employee and allegedly came into the store and concealed items in her purse and under a jacket in a shopping cart. The female then left the store without paying for the items, which totaled $105.88. The female was identified as Tammy Alexander, 43, of Leesburg.
Alexander was arrested for misdemeanor theft and transported to the Highland County Justice Center. Alexander will be arraigned on Feb. 3 at the Hillsboro Municipal Court.

Larry Debo, Jr. of Hillsboro, telecommunication harassment, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing official business and bench warrant from Brown County.
Gregory Grooms of Hillsboro, bench warrant.
Tiffany Newman of Hillsboro, failure to file city income taxes.
Tammy R. Alexander of Leesburg, theft.
