On Thursday, Jan. 12 at 8:54 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a three-vehicle property damage crash on Harry Sauner Road west of North High Street. Upon investigation, it was found that a 2005 Mercury operated by Zabrina McGinnis, 41, of Leesburg was eastbound on Harry Sauner Road and stopped for a red traffic signal. Nicholas Oglesby, 49, of Hillsboro, operating a 2000 Ford truck pulling a livestock trailer, was also eastbound and unable to stop due to snow and ice-covered roads. The front of the Oglesby truck struck the rear of the McGinnis vehicle. A third vehicle, a 2008 Hyundai operated by Kala Moon, 21, of Hillsboro, was also eastbound and unable to stop on slick roads, causing the front of her vehicle to strike the trailer pulled by Oglesby. There were no injuries reported. There was non-functional damage to the McGinnis and Oglesby vehicles and functional damage to the Moon vehicle. No citations were issued.
On Saturday, Jan. 14 at 12:33 a.m., officers responded to a domestic incident in the 100 block of Taylor Drive. Upon investigation, Jeffrey Wallace, 27, of Hillsboro was arrested for domestic menacing, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. Wallace was booked into the Highland County Justice Center.
On Saturday, Jan. 14 at 11:33 p.m., an officer of the Hillsboro Police Department on patrol found a vehicle sitting in the street. Upon investigation, a male suspect ran from the officer. The officer deployed a police K-9. The subject gave up prior to contact with the dog. Drew J. Baker, 22, of Peebles was apprehended. He was booked into the Highland County Justice Center after being charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of official business.
On Sunday, Jan. 15 at 12:05 a.m., officers of the Hillsboro Police Department responded to the 100 block of West Josie Avenue on a reported disturbance. The subject involved fled the scene prior to the officer's arrival. The subject returned shortly thereafter and was apprehended by an officer who remained in the area. Arrested was Sean C. Greene, 30, of Hillsboro, who was arrested for obstruction of official business as well as two bench warrants. Greene was also booked into the Highland County Justice Center.
On Sunday, Jan. 15 at 7:05 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department investigated the theft of an item from a motor vehicle in the 200 block of North East Street. This incident remains under investigation.[[In-content Ad]]
