On Thursday, Nov. 10 at 12:02 a.m., upon receiving a report of an intoxicated driver, an officer of the Hillsboro Police Department located a vehicle operated by Randy L. Wisecup, 38, of Hillsboro in the area of S. Elm and Walnut Streets. Wisecup ran from the officer, running through stop lights at two intersections and finally stopping in the 100 block of South High Street. Wisecup was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was belligerent toward the officer. In addition, he was found to be in possession of a concealed weapon commonly known as "brass knuckles" as well as marijuana. Wisecup was incarcerated at the Highland County Justice Center with several charges including OVI, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, failure to comply with an officer (fleeing) and two violations of traffic control devices. Wisecup will appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court to answer the charges.
On Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:25 p.m., a Sherwood Drive resident reported that his identity may have been stolen, as money from his bank account had been taken allegedly by someone in Great Britain.
On Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8:58 a.m., the Department responded to a two-vehicle property damage crash in the 100 block of South East Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that a southbound 2006 Buick operated by Helen M. Barrera, 66, of Hillsboro was stopped in traffic. However, upon taking her foot off the brake, her vehicle struck the vehicle in front of her. That vehicle was a 2003 Toyota operated by Bethany A. Jenkins, 36, of Hillsboro. There was non-functional damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries, and no citations were listed.
Also on Thursday, Nov. 10, officers of the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a two-vehicle injury crash in the 1400 block of North High Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that a northbound 2012 Chevrolet operated by Jeffrey Herman, 56, of Dayton was attempting to turn left into the North High Business Center when his vehicle was struck from behind. The other vehicle was a 2002 GMC operated by Karen I. Daughtrey, 61, of Hillsboro. There was non-functional damage to the Daughtrey vehicle and functional damage to the Herman vehicle. Herman claimed injury and took himself to Urgent Care for treatment. Daughtrey was charged with failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead (ACDA).
On Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 2:42 p.m., the department received a report of a theft of a motor vehicle. Ptarick Montine of Hillsboro advised that he found that his 1995 Chevrolet had been taken from his residence. Upon investigation, it was determined to have been taken by an overnight guest. Joshua Snapp, 23, was arrested by the Highland County Sheriff's Office for OVI while operating the vehicle in question prior to the theft report. Snapp was subsequently charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor. The vehicle was located at a wrecker service.[[In-content Ad]]
