Hillsboro police investigate thefts, possible meth lab

On Jan. 18, the Hillsboro Police Department received a call in reference to a theft and possible meth lab assembly. An officer went to the 500 block of East Main Street and found that Kelly Lane had locked himself in the back bedroom of the home. The homeowner allowed the officer to unlock the door and enter the back room. Lane was found lying on the bed. Lane was arrested for a warrant. The officer was granted permission to search the residence for the stolen items. During the search, the officer found a bag that contained the stolen items reported by the victim. A black bag was found that contained items used for the manufacture of methamphetamines. Lane is being charged with illegal assembly or possession of chemicals or manufacture of drugs and receiving stolen property.
On Jan. 18, the Hillsboro Police Department also received a call in reference to a theft at Walmart. After investigation, it was found that store employees apprehended Dewey Dixon, Jr. of Hillsboro for concealing four DVDs in his hood. Dixon left the store without paying for the items, with a total value of $59.84. Dixon was arrested for theft.[[In-content Ad]]
