Hillsboro man sentenced in vehicle theft case
A Hillsboro man was sentenced last week to one year in prison and ordered to pay over $5,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to grand theft of a motor vehicle.
As previously reported, Jeffrey E. Tedford Jr., 41, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in April on the fourth-degree felony charge.
The indictment alleged that on or about Jan. 21, Tedford “knowingly obtained or exerted control over” a 2005 Ford Ranger without its owner’s consent.
According to court records, Tedford pleaded guilty to the charge July 8.
After accepting Tedford’s guilty plea, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Tedford to 12 months in prison, with 35 days of jail time credit. Tedford was also ordered to pay $5,674.68 in restitution to the victim in this case.
