On Thursday, Dec. 15 at approximately 7:17 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a suspicious person lying in a yard on East North Street.

While an officer was en route to the scene, the subject left the area on a bicycle, heading eastbound. The responding officer encountered the subject crossing the parking lot at the Hillsboro Fire Department.

The subject was identified as Ryan Burns, 25, of Hillsboro. Burns was found in possession of copper wire and tubing, which was found to have been stolen off the air conditioner at the residence where he was lying on the ground. Burns was also found to be in possession of a backpack that contained a sectionalizer, which is property used by power companies. The local power companies were contacted, and it was found that the sectionalizer was stolen from the back lot at South Central Power Company on Danville Pike. The fence had been cut in order to access the lot. Burns has been charged with two counts of theft and one count of criminal damaging.[[In-content Ad]]
