Hillsboro FFA holds annual banquet; elects officers

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter held their annual banquet on March 24.
The banquet allows for members to be recognized for all of their hard work. Their families get the opportunity to see all the achievements that the whole chapter has accomplished.
New officers were installed as follows: President Melinda Luschek, Vice President Jennifer Smith, VP Student Meagan Overburg, VP Chapter Logan Flannery, VP Community Halee Allen, Secretary Heather Tipton, Treasurer Michaela Chaney, Reporter Cheyenne Miller, Sentinel Zach Brown and Student Adviser Josh Rhoads. These officers are very eager to get started and have great ideas for the upcoming year.
For each grade, students were recognized for their participation with the activities throughout the year. In every grade, there was one student who really showed the ability to participate in the chapter while keeping up on their grades. These students were awarded top GPA: freshman, Kaylee Achor 4.0; sophomores, Brittney Bowen and Megan Overberg, both had 4.324 GPAs; junior, Jennifer Smith 3.829; and senior, Lauren Grimes 4.038.
Bankers awards are given to seniors who have done an outstanding job keeping records. The record books that were presented to Merchants National Bank for review were all excellent. Each student will receive $35: Whitney Earley, Jordan Elmore, Lauren Grimes, Kristy Hopkins, Wyatt Ross, Sara Sexton and Hannah Yochum.
Proficiency awards go to individuals who have excelled in their supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program areas: Accounting, Melinda Luschek; Ag Sales, Wyatt Ross; Beef Production, Lauren Grimes; Equine Science, Heather Tipton; Home and/or Community Development, Tierra Dabbs; Poultry Production, Tierra Dabbs; Sheep Production, Kristy Hopkins Swine Production, Sara Sexton.
