Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Dec. 12-18, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 277 911 calls, answered 166 requests for service, dispatched 126 fire and EMS runs, took 32 offense reports and investigated 11 traffic crashes.
On Dec. 13 at 3:17 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Browning Road resident reporting his home had been burglarized. The owner’s children got off the school bus and discovered the front door had been kicked in. Several items, including firearms, were taken. Deputies are currently investigating the incident.
A female was arrested Dec. 14 during a traffic stop in Penn Township at 2:54 a.m. by a deputy investigating a suspicious vehicle. Jessica Hall of Highland was charged with several felonies, including two counts of possession of drugs. Hall was also charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of drug abuse instruments.
Deputies responded to a burglary in progress call on Dec. 16 at 3:42 p.m. at a West New Market Road residence. The homeowner was in the basement of the residence and heard a noise upstairs. Upon investigation, a jewelry box was found spread open on a bed and several lights left on. Units arrived on scene and checked the area, but no suspect was located. The incident remains under investigation.
An Odell Road resident called the Sheriff’s Office at 3:47 p.m. on Dec. 17 to report his juvenile daughter had been assaulted by another juvenile and he wished to file an incident report. A deputy responded to the scene and spoke to all the parties and their parents. The situation was resolved without any charges being filed. Both children agreed to not have any further contact with one another.
