Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Nov. 21-27, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 242 911 calls, answered 174 requests for service, dispatched 118 fire and EMS runs, took 25 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.
On Nov. 24 at 2:22 a.m., a Mad River Road resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report being assaulted by another female following a verbal argument. Deputies arrived to find both subjects bleeding from injuries sustained during a physical altercation. Michelle A. Rupe, 21, and Victoria K. Lamke, 21, both of Hillsboro, were arrested on one count each of domestic violence.

A deputy was dispatched to a Mowrystown residence at 12:35 a.m. on Nov. 25 to investigate the discovery of drug paraphernalia. The complainant called the Sheriff’s Office after finding a syringe and other items inside a bathroom recently used by an adult member of the family. The items were placed into evidence, and an offense report was taken. Charges were filed on the suspect for possession of a drug abuse instrument.
On Nov. 25 at 5:01 p.m., a Fairfield Township resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report being the victim of a scam with losses totaling $2,000. An unidentified male called the victim posing as a family member from out of state who had been arrested and needed the money for legal or court-related fees. The money was placed on gift cards and the information was given to the perpetrator. A deputy is currently investigating the incident.
An incident on Deer Run Road at 9:02 p.m. on Nov. 27 resulted in several calls to the Sheriff’s Office reporting trespassers and a subject making threats with a gun. A deputy was dispatched to the scene, where he spoke to all those involved. The situation was resolved without charges being filed.
