Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Nov. 14-20, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 266 911 calls, answered 168 requests for service, dispatched 132 fire and EMS runs, took 49 offense reports and investigated seven traffic crashes.

On Nov. 16 at 5:40 a.m. a Concord Township resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report his canines just chased two prowlers off his property. The complainant discovered gasoline had been stolen from his vehicle. A deputy patrolled the area, and an offense report was taken.

A deputy was dispatched to Panhandle Road at 7:15 a.m. on Nov. 18 to investigate damage to a vehicle. The vehicle owner called the Sheriff’s Office after discovering the tires had been slashed sometime overnight. The incident remains under investigation.

At 1:58 a.m. on Nov. 19, a Rocky Fork Lake area resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report the theft of a Christmas ornament from the front yard of her Maple Trail home. A deputy responded to the scene, and an offense report was taken. Anyone with information about this or any other crime is urged to call the Highland County Sheriff’s Office at (937) 393-1421 or leave an anonymous message on the Crime Tip Line at (937) 840-6243.

A citizen came to the Highland County Justice Center at 10:48 p.m. on Nov. 19 to report receiving threats over social media. A deputy interviewed the complainant and viewed the video evidence. An offense report was taken, and charges of menacing and complicity are pending.
