Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 282 911 calls, answered 148 requests for service, dispatched 122 fire and EMS runs, took 35 offense reports and investigated 4 traffic crashes.

At 8:11 p.m. on Nov. 2, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Davidson Road to investigate a theft complaint. An offense report was taken, and a suspect is currently being sought for questioning.

On Nov. 3 at 1:22 a.m., a Beechwood Rd. resident called 911 to report a possible burglary in progress. Suspicious noises on the front porch, followed by dogs barking, alerted the caller to contact law enforcement. Deputies rushed to the scene and searched the area, but nothing unusual was located.

A Union Twp. resident called the Sheriff’s Office at 6:19 a.m. on Nov. 4 to report a suspicious person and vehicle parked on Quarry Rd. A deputy patrolled the area and located the subject in question, who was having car trouble. The vehicle was moved off the roadway, and the driver was transported to a service station before being transported back to the scene.

A deputy was dispatched to a Jamison Rd. residence at 3:36 p.m. on Nov. 5 to investigate a domestic violence complaint. The caller alleged to have been assaulted by her mother following an argument that turned physical. The deputy spoke to both parties and several witnesses before placing both females under arrest. Cassandra Dees, 29, and Hazel Grooms, 45, were transported to the Highland County Justice Center on one count each of domestic violence.
