Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 24-30, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 289 911 calls, answered 161 requests for service, dispatched 132 fire and EMS runs, took 34 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.
At 1:56 a.m. on Oct. 25, deputies were dispatched to a residence on East Welcome Road to investigate a domestic violence complaint. A caller to 911 reported an argument between a husband and wife with a gun possibly involved. After interviewing both parties, deputies arrested Michael A. Little, 45, for one count of fourth-degree misdemeanor domestic violence.

A Dunn Road resident called the Sheriff’s Office at 3:36 a.m. on Oct. 26 to report a vehicle theft. The suspect was believed to have been heading to Greenfield or Columbus. Surrounding law enforcement agencies were immediately notified to be on the lookout for the vehicle and the suspect. Ninety minutes later, the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle crashed in their jurisdiction, but the suspect had already fled the scene. At 5:45 a.m., the victim of the theft called 911 to report the suspect had returned to Dunn Road in a vehicle stolen near the crash scene in Pickaway County. Deputies returned and apprehended Matthew L. Hunt of Leesburg without further incident.
On Oct. 29 at 8:25 p.m., a North Shore Drive resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report her husband went outside to check a suspicious noise and was assaulted by an unknown assailant. The suspect immediately fled the area on foot. A deputy responded to the scene, and an offense report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
Deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of State Route 73 at 5:22 p.m. on Oct. 30 after receiving a complaint about someone shooting a gun in an unsafe manner and direction. The shooter was located at a Grabill Road residence and advised accordingly should the problem persist. No charges were filed.
