Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Sept. 19-25, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 356 911 calls, answered 170 requests for service, dispatched 125 fire and EMS runs, took 27 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.
On Sept. 19 at 9:29 p.m., a citizen on Fascination Way called the Sheriff’s Office to report a fight between a male and female. Deputies responded to the scene and found both parties with injuries sustained during the altercation. A life squad from Paint Creek Station 22 was called to the scene, and the female was transported to the hospital. Donald M. Walker, 32, and Michele L. Noland, 38, were charged with one count each of domestic violence.

A Hillsboro man has been charged with inducing panic and disorderly conduct after attempted to stop a Hillsboro City Schools school bus on North Shore Drive at 6:25 a.m. on Sept. 21. Timothy W. Brown II, 34, was arrested after he approached the school vehicle, claiming he was being chased by several people trying to kill him. The driver immediately notified school officials, who in turn called the Sheriff’s Office. A deputy located Brown and took him into custody after determining he was under the influence of drugs and not in any danger.
Deputies were dispatched to a business in the 8000 block of US 50 at 6:10 a.m. on Sept. 23 after receiving several reports of a domestic dispute allegedly involving a male holding a knife to a female’s throat. However, neither party wished to file an offense report, saying the argument was only verbal and no knife was involved.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence on State Route 124 at 11:55 a.m. on Sept. 23 to investigate graffiti spray painted on a garage door. A child of the homeowner was found to be responsible, and there was no need for alarm. No report was taken, and no charges were necessary.
