On May 10 at 12:58 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a residence on state Route 136 where two females were involved in an active fight. Deputies arrived on scene to find one of the combatants had already left in a vehicle headed northbound. A description of the vehicle was given to officers from the Hillsboro Police Department, who located and stopped the suspect at a business on South High Street. Shannon D. Hendricks, 40, of Hillsboro was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence.
Deputies were dispatched to a Robin Hood Lane residence at 1:51 a.m. on May 12 to investigate a report of domestic violence between a father and son. Only one of the men were still at the residence when law enforcement arrived. He informed deputies that no assault occurred and that no charges were necessary.
The sheriff’s office received several calls from citizens on Sunset Lane at Rocky Fork Lake reporting their neighbors were outside arguing. The first call came when a witness decided a deputy was necessary to prevent the situation from escalating. The dispute over the placement of a mailbox was quickly settled without incident once a deputy arrived. No report was necessary, and no charges were filed.
A resident of the 1000 block of state Route 753 called 911 at 12:04 a.m. on May 15 to report an unknown male subject pounding on her door and making threats of physical harm. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate. At 12:05 a.m., a second 911 call came from another resident in the same area reporting a male subject with a knife. When deputies arrived, they observed a male subject fleeing on foot behind several houses. A K-9 from the Hillsboro Police Department was summoned to begin a track for the suspect. A search of the area eventually led to Cory E. Rhoades, 30, of Leesburg being apprehended during a traffic stop as he was fleeing the area in a vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
