Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of April 25 to May 1, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 334 911 calls, answered 147 requests for service, dispatched 126 fire and EMS runs, took 24 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.
Law enforcement was dispatched to the 7000 block of state Route 753 at 10:55 p.m. on April 25 after the Sheriff’s Office received several reports of neighbors yelling and screaming at one another. Deputies arrived and spoke to everyone involved. No charges were filed, and one male was given a ride home. A 911 call was received from the same neighborhood at 12:54 a.m. on April 26 when a fight broke out between two males. Sheriff’s deputies returned to the scene, along with a life squad from Paint Creek Fire and EMS for a female who allegedly sustained injuries during the altercation. However, both combatants and the alleged victim fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies and EMS. The area was checked, but none of the subjects were located.

On April 26 at 12:01 p.m., a Mowrystown resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report a domestic disturbance at a neighbor’s home. During the altercation, a male was witnessed throwing a small refrigerator at, and slashing tires on, the victim’s vehicle. Deputies were dispatched to investigate, but the suspect left prior to their arrival. A deputy interviewed the victim and witnesses, and an offense report was taken. Soon after clearing the scene, the deputy located and arrested the suspect Christopher K. Mullis, Jr. when the vehicle carrying the suspect tried to elude law enforcement by leaving the roadway and driving through a field toward a wooded area. Mullis was charged with domestic violence and criminal damaging. The driver of the vehicle was cited for driving with an expired license.
On April 26 at 4:01 p.m., the Greenfield Police Department received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Cameron Drive in Madison Township. The GPD notified the Sheriff’s Office, and both agencies sent units to the scene. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement arriving. A deputy patrolling the area located the suspect a short time later after receiving information from a witness who saw the subject trying to hide in a culvert. Daniel L. Tolle was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
