Highland County Sheriff's Report
Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of May 18-24, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 372 911 calls, answered 195 requests for service, dispatched 124 fire and EMS runs, took 29 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.
At 12:24 a.m. on May 18, deputies responded to a 911 call from a female in the 8000 block of US 62. The caller reported she and her husband were involved in a volatile argument and would like assistance from law enforcement. Deputies arrived on scene, spoke to both parties and took a report. No assault occurred, and no charges were filed.
The Sheriff’s Office received a criminal damaging report from a Woodland Trail resident at 7:07 p.m. on May 21. The caller reported an intoxicated male subject broke several windows out of his trailer and then left on foot. A deputy responded to the scene but was unable to locate the suspect. A report was taken, and an arrest warrant was filed.

On May 22, a theft was reported by a Paint Township resident at approximately 10:24 a.m. after a chainsaw was discovered missing from his property. A deputy spoke to the complainant, and an offense report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
A deputy was dispatched to a domestic violence call on Highland Hills Drive at 1:15 p.m. on May 23. A neighbor called 911 after a female came to her door saying she was assaulted by her mother and requested she call law enforcement. After arriving at the scene, all parties involved were interviewed, and statements were taken. It was determined that no person involved was assaulted, and no charges were filed.
A 911 caller reported at 1:37 a.m. on May 24 that several intoxicated males at a state Route 286 residence in Clay Township were involved in a fight. While deputies were en route, a second call came in reporting that the altercation had subsided and the two parties responsible for the ruckus had left. Deputies continued to the scene and patrolled the area for those allegedly impaired drivers. The suspects were not immediately located.
