Highland County Sheriff's Report

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of March 7-13, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 296 911 calls, answered 159 requests for service, dispatched 115 fire and EMS runs, took 27 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

On March 8 at 11:49 p.m., a resident on Rocklick Road called the sheriff’s office to report a suspicious vehicle parked in a neighbor’s driveway. The vehicle was also witnessed driving slowly back and forth on the roadway. A deputy responded to patrol the area, but the vehicle had already left the scene.

A resident on Highland Hills Drive called the sheriff’s office at 9:48 p.m. on March 12 to report several suspects running from a neighbor’s house carrying stolen items. The caller’s husband gave chase on foot and was able to give an accurate description of the suspects. Deputies were dispatched to the scene and began a thorough search of the area. A male suspect was located nearby and taken into custody. Additional investigation is pending, and additional charges are likely.

A business owner in the 12000 block of state Route 138 called the Sheriff’s Office at 12:03 p.m. on March 13 to report a breaking and entering and theft. A deputy responded to the scene to collect evidence and take an offense report. The incident remains under investigation.

On March 13 at 7:42 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 7000 block of Mad River Road to investigate a domestic disturbance complaint. The caller advised dispatchers that a male subject was at the residence arguing with a female and refusing to leave. The deputy arrived on scene, and after interviewing the parties involved, it was determined the confrontation was all verbal. No charges were filed.
