Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Feb. 1-7, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 318 911 calls, answered 146 requests for service, dispatched 116 fire and EMS runs, took 26 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.

On Feb. 1 at 12:58 a.m., while on routine patrol in Paint Township, a deputy discovered an open door at a business in the 7000 block of state Route 753. The business was checked, but nothing appeared to be out of order, and the door was re-secured.

On Feb. 3 at 6:32 p.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic violence incident at a residence in the 7000 block of state Route 753. Deputies responded to the scene to find a juvenile female who had been assaulted by an adult male. Dwayne A. Howe, Jr., of Greenfield, was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence and one count of unlawful restraint.

On Feb. 5 at 7 p.m., a Rocky Fork Lake resident came to the Highland County Justice Center to report a theft. The complainant was attempting to make a purchase online. The suspect collected a fee, but no goods were delivered. A deputy took a report, and the incident remains under investigation.

On Feb. 7 at 8:20 p.m., a Dodson Township resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an altercation with a family member that had become physical in nature. The victim completed a voluntary statement and spoke to a deputy. An investigation was initiated, but it was determined that no assault occurred, and no charges were filed.
