Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Dec. 28 - Jan. 3, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 350 911 calls, answered 168 requests for service, dispatched 118 fire and EMS runs, took 29 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

On Dec. 28 at 6:18 a.m., a resident of the 8000 block of state Route 753 called the Sheriff’s Office to report her vehicle windows had been broken and items were missing. A deputy responded to the scene, and a report was taken. This incident remains under investigation.

A deputy was dispatched to the 12000 block of state Route 753 at 11:06 a.m. on Dec. 29 after a citizen called to report his vehicle had windows broken and items were missing. A report was taken, and the incident remains under investigation.

A resident of the 600 block of state Route 131 called the Sheriff’s Office at 1:51 p.m. on Jan. 2 to report returning home to find her garage door had been damaged during an attempted break-in. A deputy responded to the residence to take a report. The incident remains under investigation.

A citizen on Young Road called the Sheriff’s Office at 9:28 p.m. on Jan. 2 to report catching an unknown suspect in his vehicle. The suspect fled on foot. A deputy was dispatched to patrol the area, but the suspect was not located.
