Highland County Sheriff's Report
Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Oct. 5-11, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 338 911 calls, answered 148 requests for service, dispatched 93 fire and EMS runs, took 39 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.
On Oct. 6 at 5:54 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to Fairview to investigate a report of a broken-down vehicle. The deputy located the stranded motorist just east of Danville Road and was able to provide assistance to get the vehicle running and safely back on the road.
The sheriff’s office received a vandalism complaint at 8:12 a.m. on Oct. 8. A vehicle belonging to the Highland County Honor Guard had windows broken out by unknown suspects while parked at a facility on North Shore Drive. A deputy responded, and an offense report was taken.

A citizen residing in the 4000 block of state Route 138 called the sheriff’s office at 10:24 a.m. on Oct. 11 after discovering someone had slashed the tires of her vehicle. A deputy responded to the scene, and a report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Sicily Road at 1:09 p.m. on Oct. 11 after receiving a call reporting a domestic disturbance. Derrick W. Carlisle was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from Hillsboro Municipal Court. No charges were filed as a result of the incident that precipitated the call.
At 6:34 p.m. on Oct. 11, a witness reported two juveniles behind a facility on North Shore Drive damaging property and committing a theft offense. A deputy responded and took a report. While conducting a follow-up investigation, two male juvenile suspects were located and arrested. Additional charges are likely to follow in connection with other similar crimes perpetrated by the pair.
