Highland County Sheriff's Report

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of April 13-19, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 649 911 calls, answered 167 requests for service, dispatched 122 fire and EMS runs, took 28 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.

At 9:24 p.m. on April 13, deputies responded to a call of two men fighting on East Main Street in Highland. Kenneth Hamilton, 56, was arrested and charged with persistent disorderly conduct.

On April 14 at 6:13 p.m., a resident of Highland Hills Drive came to the sheriff’s office to file an identity theft complaint. The victim spoke to a deputy, a report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

A deputy was dispatched to a Salem Township residence on April 15 at 7:39 p.m. to investigate a possible overdose. A female juvenile was reported as having suffered a seizure, but when squad members arrived on scene, it was determined to be drug-related. A report was taken, and the victim was transported to Highland District Hospital.

A Penn Township resident came to the sheriff’s office at 1:01 p.m. on April 16 to report a domestic violence incident. A deputy took a report, and charges were filed against the suspect, who was arrested a short time later at the residence. Daniel Mahorney, 44, of Leesburg was charged with one count of domestic violence.

At 10:40 p.m. on April 18, deputies responded to the Rainsboro community after receiving a report of a man with a gun. A second call was received a short time later from the alleged suspect reporting damage to his car window caused by other male suspect. After interviewing several witnesses and both suspects, deputies arrested Donald Morris, 51, of Bainbridge and charged him with menacing.
