HCSO announces upgrades to computer system

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera is happy to announce a recent upgrade to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office’s computer system, with a value of $24,200, which has been provided without charge to the taxpayers of Highland County.
The upgrade is developed by Justice Data Solutions, Inc. and is a custom software solution for county-level criminal justice agencies and other offices, according to Sheriff Barrera.
The newest jail management system (JMS) of Justice Data Solutions, Inc., is called “WebJAMIN” and has just been implemented at the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.
WebJAMIN is an improvement over its predecessor (“JAMIN”) in many ways:
1. WebJAMIN is web browser-based, as its name implies. No client software needs to be purchased or installed on the individual workstations, and thus, it lends itself to ease of remote access by courts and other law enforcement agencies.
2. Forms produced by WebJAMIN are generated as PDF files. This saves paper and can easily be e-mailed or otherwise transferred electronically. It will still print to hard copy, as needed.
3. Case-related documents from other sources can be attached to WebJAMIN inmate records via its integral document/file attachment capability.
4. WebJAMIN is environmentally friendly, in that electronic documents, combined with the soon-to- be-implemented signature pad, can greatly reduce the usage of paper.
5. Inmate mugshot and evidence photo capture is greatly simplified with WebJAMIN, with its newly-implemented IP (network-accessible) camera. ANY PC can be an image capture station.
6. WebJAMIN also can be accessed from portable devices, such as iPads and Tablet PCs.
