HCP supports Small Business Saturday on November 26

The second annual Small Business Saturday will be observed Nov. 26 across the U.S.
This is a day dedicated to supporting small, locally-owned, independent businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year – the Saturday following Thanksgiving.
According to www.score.org, Small Business Saturday is "when we continue to show our gratitude by supporting the lifeline of the American economy – our small businesses.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there were nearly 28 million small businesses in the United States last year. Over the past two decades, they created 65 percent of net new jobs.
Directly supporting the communities in which we live, every $100 spent in locally owned, independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures, according to the small business advocacy group The 3/50 Project.
As the only locally owned, independent newspaper in Highland County, The Highland County Press joins the nation in support of Small Business Saturday.
SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years.
SCORE also provides local workshops and events throughout the country to connect small business owners with the people and information they need to start, grow, and maintain their businesses, as well as online workshops available 24/7. SCORE provides resources, templates and tools to assist entrepreneurs in developing tools and plans they need to navigate their way to small business success.
