A hazardous weather advisory remains in effect this week as wind chill factors could reach minus 15 degrees Sunday night and Monday morning.

After a daytime high of near 28 Sunday, Feb. 22, temperature will plummet to 0 by late Sunday night. For Monday, Feb. 23, the daytime high is expected to be 10 degrees with a low again near 0.

After a brief "warmup" on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lows will again be 0 or below 0.

In addition, Hillsboro had 5.5 inches of new snow Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. New snow accumulations varied from 8.0 inches in Piketon to 6.5 inches in Georgetown. Peebles also checked in with 5.5 inches of snow, the NWS said.

Snow plow crews from District 9 of the Ohio Department of Transportation along with county, township and city crews continue with snow removal efforts and de-icing area roadways. Considering the additional snowfall, crews have done a very good job of keeping the majority of roadways open.

ODOT District 9 Crews are wrapping up operations this morning and heading home.

Routes on the state highway system in the district's eight-county region are clear and wet, and deicing materials have been applied. However, motorists will want to continue using additional caution as wet pavement can be slick, and there is the potential for black ice or freezeovers on routes where temperatures are near freezing.
