A Greenfield man was sentenced Friday to two years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Jason Lee Bond, 46, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in April 2024 and charged with two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, both fourth-degree felonies. He was later indicted in July 2024 on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony, in connection with the aforementioned case.

Court records show that as part of the plea agreement, the state dismissed the failure to appear case, with Bond pleading guilty to both counts in the grand theft case.

The charges stem from two separate alleged incidents in February 2024. On or about Feb. 9, Bond is accused of “knowingly obtaining or exerting control over” a Dodge Avenger without its owner’s consent. On or about Feb. 29, it is alleged that Bond also “knowingly obtained or exerted control over” a Chevrolet Monte Carlo without its owner’s consent, according to the indictment.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Bond to 12 months on each count, to be served consecutively, for a total of 24 months in prison. Bond had 27 days of jail time credit.
