Governor DeWine appoints Ong to Tuscarawas County Court

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Thursday announced the appointment of James J. Ong to the Tuscarawas County Court.

Ong, of Uhrichsville, will assume office May 29 and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Brad Hillyer, who retired. Ong will serve the remainder of the unexpired term and will have to run for election in November 2024 to retain the seat.

Ong currently is a partner at the law firm of Connolly, Hillyer, and Ong in Uhrichsville.

Ong previously served as an acting judge for the Tuscarawas County Court. He also previously served as the Law Director for the City of Uhrichsville and the Village Solicitor for the villages of Dennison and Tuscarawas.

Ong received a bachelor of arts from Hiram College  in 1993 and a juris doctor from the University of Akron School of Law in 1997.
