Governor DeWine appoints Jones to Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Thursday announced the appointment of Robert J. Jones Jr. to the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division.

Jones will assume office Dec. 18 and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Denise Cubbon. He will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and need to run for election in November of 2024 in order to retain the seat.

Jones has served as a magistrate for the Lucas County Juvenile Court since 2013. Previously, he served as a hearing officer for the Lucas County Child Support Enforcement Agency, general legal counsel for Timberland Square and an assistant prosecutor for the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office.

A 1993 graduate of the Ohio State University, Jones earned his bachelor's degree in history. In 1997, he earned his juris doctor from the University of Toledo.

In his community, Jones is a local business owner, a member of the St. Joseph Sylvania Catholic Church and a member of the Toledo Bar Association.
