Fourth annual HDH Foundation golf outing held at Hillsboro Elks

For the second year in a row, First Financial Bank claimed the title at the fourth annual Highland District Hospital Foundation golf outing held at the Hillsboro Elks golf course on a chilly Saturday afternoon.

The First Financial foursome of Chris Fauber, Bret Rhodes, Brett Prince and Shane Wilken carded a 14-under-par 58, beating two other teams that carded a 58 by a scorecard playoff.

“We’ve had another enjoyable day of golf,” said HDH CEO Jim Baer, who participated in the outing. “This is always a fun time.”

All proceeds from the event will go toward the purchase of a 4D ultrasound unit, GlideScope and ventilator.

“Our goal this year is to complete the payment of the 4D ultrasound, and with this tremendous event, it appears we’ll be close to meeting that goal,” said HDH Foundation Director Cathy Jones.

The team of Pete Pence, Greg Waggoner, Ernie Blankenship and Ryan Blankenship finished second, and the team of Brett Prince, Chris Fauber, Rod Donley and Adam Bagshaw finished third. Prince and Fauber played in both the morning and afternoon rounds.

Holly Pence, Kristy Wilkin, Joann Davis and Heather Loudin were the ladies winners, and the team of Don Fender, Terry McConnaughey, Joe Bryan and Paul Pence were the senior winners.

Close to 100 golfers registered for the tournament; which was originally scheduled to be held June 20, but was postponed one week due to inclement weather.

“We want to thank all the people who supported us in the golf outing,” Foundation Board of Directors President Vicki Rhude said. “Despite the weather, it was a great day.”
