Press Release-
On Sunday, Sept. 27, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted presented a medallion honoring Former Ohio Congressman Delbert “Del” Latta for his courageous support of the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965.
The landmark legislation served as the flagship reform in the effort toward ensuring access to the ballot box for every American citizen.
The medallion, sponsored by Secretary Husted and the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), was accepted by Congressman Bob Latta on his father’s behalf. The elder Congressman Latta is the last living Member of Congress from Ohio’s delegation to have cast a vote on the legislation.
