An indicted state former state representative has been found guilty on 13 of 38 charges against him.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge John Andrew West announced his verdicts Tuesday, June second against former lawmaker Peter Beck.

Beck was convicted of three counts of theft, three counts related to securities and seven counts of perjury.

The judge found Beck not guilty on 25 other charges.

Beck faces up to 52 1/2 years in prison.

Beck, a Mason Republican, was originally indicted on 53 charges and could have faced up to 102 years in prison for alleged securities-related fraud.

Beck had represented the 54th House District, serving parts of Butler and Warren counties. He lost his chance for re-election after being defeated in the 2014 Republican primary.

Beck served as a member of Mason City Council from 1997 to 2005. From 2003-05, he was Mason’s mayor. Beck again served on Mason City Council as the vice mayor from 2007 until his appointment to the Ohio House in September 2009.

In February 2014, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph T. Deters announced that additional indictments had been issued against Beck and several alleged co-conspirators.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2015.
