Fling Barn hosts Goshorn Brothers, Chuck Land on Oct. 22

Some of us first heard of The Goshorn Brothers from their association with Pure Prairie League. For others, it was their Friday afternoons on WLW Radio with the legendary Gary Burbank and his "Stump the Band" segments.
The Goshorn Brothers are a Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area rock 'n' roll group comprised of Tim and Larry Goshorn. In addition to being former members of Pure Prairie League, they also were part of a late 1960s, early '70s band called The Sacred Mushroom. Today's Goshorn Brothers band also features Rick "Bam" Powell on drums and Bob Nyswonger on bass.
The Goshorn Brothers, along with the talented and popular Chuck Land, will perform at the Fling Barn on Saturday, Oct. 22, in what promises to be another in a long line of fun-filled, entertaining evenings at The Barn, near Folsom in southern Highland County.
Dr. Bill Fling told The Highland County Press that The Barn crew looks forward to having The Goshorn Brothers and Chuck Land perform on Oct. 22.
"The Goshorn Brothers are former members of the popular Pure Prairie League and the Chuck Land Band is incredible," Dr. Fling said. "This will be a very special evening and we hope to see our friends at The Fling Barn – where the music matters the most."
When asked to describe The Goshorn Brothers' style, Larry Goshorn said, "Our 'sound' is a combination of blues, rock and a touch of country. Many of our tunes are original, along with some vintage blues and 1970s rock songs."
Larry has been performing since he was 14 years old, and has played professionally for 50 years. He's worked with The Sacred Mushroom, Mushroom Jones and of course Pure Prairie League, in addition to The Goshorn Brothers and several other groups.
Larry said he stays in contact with WLW's longtime afternoon host Gary Burbank and continues to perform in the Greater Cincinnati area.
"Gary Burbank is a dear friend and we stay in contact with each other, but Gary is no longer doing live shows," Larry Goshorn said. "We have a few places that we play on a semi-regular basis: Campbell's Barn in Amelia, Par's Bar in Fairfield, Allyn's in Columbia Township and a few other places. "The Fling Barn concert was set up by our good friend and videographer, Chuck Land, and I believe Chuck will be sitting in with us there."
Goshorn has also produced other groups such as Noah Hunt and Jason Denny, Denim Road, Rev. Billy Rose, and others.
"Marcos Sastre and I also co-produced a series of blues CDs called 'Shades of Blue,' with about 100 local musicians. I produced our own CDs, 'Life' and 'Live at Tommy's.'"
Goshorn said whatever CDs are still available can be found at Everybody's Records in Pleasant Ridge on Montgomery Road in Cincinnati.
The Goshorn Brothers are known as crowd favorites, with a soulful, close-to-home mix of rock, country and blues.

We've had tremendous bands from The Kentucky Headhunters to Martin-Ramey to Kelly Red and so many others. This is a family friendly venue with great music and great food from Slow and Low.
