Firefighters called to blaze at North Shore Drive business

Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District responded to a fire at the Breakers Sports Bar in the 11000 block of North Shore Drive at approximately 3:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6.

According to Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District Chief Bradley George, no injuries were reported.

Multiple area stations responded to the fire and battled subfreezing temperatures around 10 degrees during the early morning hours.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office were on the scene Friday morning.

Jim Lyle was among the first firefighters on the scene at 3:48 a.m. He said that a deputy from the Highland County Sheriff's Office had just responded to a burglar alarm and noticed smoke.

"By the time we got there, heavy smoke could be seen across North Shore," Lyle said.

He said the fire may have started in an attic area. However, three State Fire Marshal investigators were examining the scene late Friday morning.

In addition to Paint Creek, Marshall and Brush Creek fire departments also responded.

"We had about 20 firefighters responding," Lyle said.
