In order to ensure fairness in the election process, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has instructed boards of elections to embargo election results from today’s General Election until the polls in Hamilton County close at 9 p.m.

DIRECTIVE 2015-21 November 3, 2015 To: All County Boards of Elections Directors, Deputy Directors, and Board Members Re: Court Order – Voting locations in Hamilton County ONLY to remain open until 9:00 PM; No County may release statewide election results until 9:00 PM; Reporting of results must continue to Secretary of State.

SUMMARY Late this evening, a lawsuit was filed in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court resulting in an Order to keep voting locations in Hamilton County ONLY open until 9:00 PM. This Directive instructs all counties on the proper methods of adhering to the Court’s order. INSTRUCTIONS No county may release election results until 9:00 PM. However, all counties (except Hamilton County) must continue their unofficial canvass (i.e., tabulating) and continue reporting results to the Secretary of State’s election night reporting system on the county’s assigned interval (i.e., beginning with absentee votes at 7:45 PM and on regular intervals thereafter consistent with Directive 2015-19).
Results through the Secretary of State’s election night reporting system will be embargoed and not available until polling places in Hamilton County have closed at 9:00 PM.

If you have any questions, please contact the Secretary of State’s Office at (614) 466-2564.
