David, a longtime local resident, was raised on a cattle farm in Highland County near the Marshall community, graduating from Hillsboro High School. Upon graduation, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged from active duty, he attended college and received a degree in electronic engineering.
After his education, he was employed by NCR Corporation as a computer field engineer until he co-founded a company, Dalco Electronics, a computer product mail order catalog company which grew from a borrowed $5,000 investment to a company with over $18 million in sales and 90 employees.
David also was a co recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year award. He later sold his interest in the company and returned to Highland County a few years ago.
He resides on a farm near Marshall with his wife, Debra, and two sons, Nicholas, a student at Ohio State University, and Conner, a freshman at Hillsboro High School.
He is currently raising Registered Lowline Angus Cattle. He has also been actively involved buying and selling real estate with his father, Jim Ditmer, a longtime Real Estate Broker until his passing in April.
