Contractors scheduled to begin operations next week
CHILLICOTHE –  Construction to replace a large deteriorated culvert on state Route 28 in Ross County is slated to begin, with contractors closing the route to traffic early next week.
According to ODOT District 9 Deputy Director James A. Brushart, crews from RC Construction will close Ohio-28 on Monday, June 7, for a culvert replacement project at the route’s 7.08-mile marker. The project site is situated between County Road 59 (Harper Station Road) and Township Road 899 (Halley Lane), approximately seven miles east of the Ross-Highland County line, and construction also includes the installation of a retaining wall.
The closure is scheduled to be in effect for 45 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 41 at Greenfield to U.S. 50 at Bainbridge.
The RC Construction Company of Cutler, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $227,023 to replace the structure and install the retaining wall, and the scheduled completion date is Aug. 15.
