A Columbus woman was sentenced to community control recently after pleading guilty to a motor vehicle theft charge in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

Lindsey B. Adams, 39, of Wilmington was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in August 2023 and charged with one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. The indictment alleged that on or about June 22, 2023, Adams “did knowingly obtain or exert control over” a Mazda “with the purpose to deprive” the vehicle’s owner.

According to court records, Adams pleaded guilty to the charge in December.

During a sentencing hearing Jan. 18, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Adams to three years of community control. He also ordered her to pay $4,065 in restitution to the victim in the case and to successfully complete a substance use disorder treatment program.
