Chief Bradley George guest speaker of Board of Realtors

Bradley George, chief of the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, was the guest speaker at the May 22 meeting of the Highland County Board of Realtors.

George spoke about the formation of the fire district, current stations and staffing levels, as well as home safety inspections.

The Paint Creek district was formed in 2009, following the decision to abolish the former Greenfield Fire Department.

In the past five years, the district has expanded to include several townships in the county, the city of Hillsboro, and Buckskin Township in Ross County.

The district is in the process of establishing a new fire station in the Rainsboro area at U.S. 50 and state Route 753.

The Board of Trustees of the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District include: Dan Mathews, William Redenbaugh, Grant Palmer, Mike Erskine, Lowell Sullivan, Travis Moots, Wayne Edingfield, Randy Mustard, and non-voting member Lee Koogler.

George told the Realtors the district made a total of 2,241 runs in 2013, up from 1,845 in 2012. Fire runs were 342 in 2013 and 289 in 2012.

The Thursday luncheon, held at the Ponderosa Banquet Center, was sponsored by TechneTitle of Hillsboro.
