Work will continue through next week on state Route 505 in Brown County following a slip that occurred during last weekend’s rain storms.
The route was closed Sunday, May 2, at the 0.25-mile marker, just north of U.S. Route 52 at Higginsport, when the shoulder started to sag and give way after an approximately two-by-sixty-foot section of earth alongside the route slid.
Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility are working to clear the slide area and repair the slip with piling and rock. Although an exact completion date is unknown, operations are expected to continue through the end of next week, and the route will remain closed.
Motorists are being detoured by way of U.S. Route 52 to S.R. 133 and S.R. 756 at Felicity in Clermont County to S.R. 505 in Brown County.
While S.R. 505 motorists are being detoured onto S.R. 133 in Clermont County for this project, they are also advised of a culvert replacement project taking place on S.R. 133, in which the route will be closed between Felicity and Bethel.
S.R. 133 will be closed Monday, May 10, through Thursday, May 20, while crews from ODOT District 8’s Clermont County garage replace a series of four culverts located north of Bolender Road, S.R. 774, Hoover Road and Canter Road, respectively.
For this closure, traffic between Felicity and Bethel will be routed via S.R. 756 to S.R. 505 and S.R. 125 in Brown County. Although neither this project nor the project on S.R. 505 will be affected by either closure, motorists are advised of the additional traffic that will be detoured via the same routes for both closures.

Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation's Lawrence County Highway Maintenance Facility have reopened state Route 217 at Linnville, which was the last section of state roadway in the county still closed following last weekend's storms.
With the exception of state Route 505 in Brown County, which has been closed since Sunday night due to a slip, all roads in District 9 that were closed due to flooding are now open to traffic. Although crews from ODOT's Brown County facility are working to restore the route, an exact date to reopen it is unknown. However, it is anticipated that operations will be completed by the end of next week.
