The Greenfield Fire Department, Wayne Township, Highland County North Joint District, Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, Highland County EMS, Greenfield Police Department and the Washington C.H. Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 202 1/2 S. Washington St. in Greenfield Wednesday. No injuries were reported; however, at least two dogs perished. The apartment building sustained heavy damage in what appeared to be an electrical fire. Greenfield Fire Department spokesman Mike Gilbert said the call came in at 5:52 p.m. and the first firefighters arrived on the scene at 6:02 p.m. "For the first 15 minutes, there were only three firefigters on the scene," Gilbert said. Greenfield firefighters also were called to a fire at 100 Whetstone Road at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. The first units arrived at 11:40 p.m. and found an unoccupied trailer a total loss. The fire was suspicious in nature, Gilbert said. The Bainbridge Fire Department also responded to the Paint Township blaze.[[In-content Ad]]
