Board of Realtors welcomes HPD K-9 unit 'Harley'

Hillsboro Police Chief Todd Whited and Officer Adam Day introduced the HPD K-9 unit Harley to members of the Highland County Board of Realtors during their June 25 luncheon meeting at the Hillsboro Ponderosa.

The K-9 unit was acquired through various community donations, including a contribution by the Board of Realtors.

Other speakers at the June 25 meeting included Angie Mustard from Highland County Community Action, Inc., Kay Wilson, with USDA, and attorney Susan L. Davis of Preferred Midwest Title, LLC.

Mustard discussed the Christmas in July toy drive program. Last year, Community Action served 1,300 children in Highland County. Applications will be accepted this year from Oct. 12-Nov. 13. Davis addressed new law changes that can impact property transactions and she encouraged Realtors to bring the seller and buyer together prior to signing contracts.

In other business, the 2015 Board of Realtors' golf outing will be noon Friday, July 10 at the Hillsboro Elks Course. The entry fee is $200 per team. Contact Brigette Waggoner at (937) 725-2160 or Risa Boone at (937) 402-7662 for information.
