Bicyclists to ride from Cleveland to Cincinnati for American Cancer Society

Cincinnati and Southwest Ohio will be the destination for more than 350 bicyclists on Aug. 1 as they finish their journey from Cleveland in the American Cancer Society' Pan Ohio Hope Ride. The cyclists will pedal more than 300 miles over four days from Thursday, July 29 in Cleveland to Sunday, Aug. 1 in Cincinnati. The Hope Ride benefits the Society's Hope Lodges and other critical programs in the fight against cancer. The Society's Musekamp Family Hope Lodge in Cincinnati will mark the finish line for the tour.
On the route, cyclists of all skill levels will enjoy a mix of scenic by-way, country roads and spectacular trails. Experienced riders will enjoy challenge options on portions of the route. The Pan Ohio Hope Ride also includes overnight stays at some of Ohio's beautiful college campuses. The ride includes all meals, rest stops and full support from mechanics and safety personnel.
This year's ride will pass through the following cities:
July 29 Cleveland, Lakewood, Strongsville, Medina, Smithville, Seville, Wooster (78 miles)
July 30 Wooster, Millersburg, Mt. Vernon, Hartford, Westerville (96 miles)
July 31 Westerville, Dublin, Plumwood, Springfield (61 miles)
August 1 Springfield, Xenia, Morrow, Loveland, Milford, Cincinnati (84 miles)
Riders can participate in one, two or all four days of the tour. Participating cyclists give a $200 registration fee. They are provided with tips to reach individual fund-raising goals. Cyclists and rest stop volunteers may sign up for the event by visiting www.panohiohoperide.org or by calling the American Cancer Society toll free at 888-227-6446 ext. 1222.
The Pan Ohio Hope Ride raises money and awareness for American Cancer Society programs such as its Hope Lodges, which provide no-cost lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to a different city for treatment. Hope Lodges in Cleveland and Cincinnati have saved millions of dollars in hotel costs for guests who traveled to those two cities for cancer treatment.
