Arrests made in Lynchburg burglaries

The Lynchburg Police Department reports that three arrests have been made following an investigation of vehicle break-ins in the community.
According to the LPD, on Aug. 27, the Lynchburg Police Department was notified by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office that they had received multiple reports of individuals burglarizing vehicles.
The sheriff’s office dispatched deputies to Lynchburg and they requested a unit from the Lynchburg Police Department to respond. After an officer with the Lynchburg Police Department met with the sheriff’s deputies, an investigation was initiated.
The Lynchburg Police Department continued to receive calls throughout the day from other victims reporting thefts and total complaints were more than 20 incidents. After further investigation by Lynchburg Police Officers three suspects were identified and taken into custody.
After questioning these individuals and with other evidence that had been collected by officers, charges were filed on two adults.
Carey Jones, 19, of Lynchburg was charged with one count of burglary, a second-degree felony; and Johnathan Keyser, 18, of Lynchburg was charged with one count of complicity to burglary, a second-degree felony.
Both of these subjects were arraigned in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Friday, Sept. 23.
At this time, this investigation is still active and additional charges may be filed. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for these subjects on Thursday, Sept. 29, in Hillsboro Municipal Court.
The third individual involved is a juvenile and the case will be presented to the Highland County juvenile prosecutor for review.[[In-content Ad]]
