Area routes affected by high water, debris

Although water is starting to recede after yesterday's heavy storms, several routes in Adams County were closed Saturday morning, May 22, due to flash flooding, and crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation's facilities in both Adams and Highland counties will be working today to clear debris and repair damaged roadways. Currently, state routes 73, 348, and 781 in Adams County are closed at various locations, while state routes 41 and 247 are now open. (Specifically, S.R. 73 is closed from the 10.45 to 15.68-mile marker; S.R. 781, 10.00-10.90-mm; and S.R. 348, 0.00-13.77-mm.) Berm has also been washed out on S.R. 41, S.R. 348, S.R. 781, S.R. 247, S.R. 125 in Adams County, and heavy debris is reported on S.R. 781 and S.R. 348. Although these routes are open, crews will working throughout the day to clear and repair roads, ditches and berms. Crews in Highland County are also working on all routes there to assess damages and making necessary repairs. All routes in Highland County remain open; however, motorists will want to exercise caution when traveling through work zones.
