Time Warner Cable assisted local volunteers Mark and Alice Wilson, Tom and Maggi Horst, and Karen Cundiff with the placing of Christmas wreaths and holiday banners in Hillsboro's historic uptown business district Saturday night.

The volunteers, who do this each year, also placed decorative holiday lighting on the courthouse lawn.

For many years, the Hillsboro Lions Club had assisted with the annual placing of the wreaths on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

More recently, Tom and Margaret Horst have coordinated the placing of the wreaths with Dale Zornes of Time Warner Cable in Hillsboro. Time Warner also assists in taking down the wreaths in early January.

“We usually do this on Sunday morning before Thanksgiving, but rain is in the forecast tomorrow, so we decided to do it tonight,” Commissioner Horst said.

Last year, the volunteers worked with 18-degree temperatures on a Sunday morning. This year, it was almost 50 degrees.

The volunteers’ efforts are always appreciated throughout the community.
